Thailand Visa On Arrival Form (Visa on Entry Form)

Last Updated August 7,2010 Travelers from China, India and couple other countries need to get Visa on arrival (or entry) for Thailand. The visa on arrival form is not online at any of the official Thai sites. I am putting up a picture of the Thai visa on arrival form here so that you know what to fill up when you get to Bangkok, Phuket or other international airports in Thailand. You can get the form at the Thai "Visa on Arrival" counter at the airport.

What you need for the Visa

  1. One completed visa form per person. Fill only the front page (the part in English), the back is for their official use.
  2. Passport (need at least six months validity from the day you enter Thailand). It is always a good idea to carry photocopies of the first page of your passport.
  3. Visa Fee: 1000 Baht NOTE: VISA fee is waived till March 2011.
  4. Proof of ability to stay in Thailand: 10,000 Baht per person (or 20,000 Baht per family) This can be in any major currency as long as it is equivalent to the Thai currency above. I have shown them US dollars, Singapore Dollars, Japanese Yen and Chinese Renmenbi in the past and they were fine with it. They will not take this money. They just want to make sure you have enough money. They do not acknowledge Credit or Debit cards. In Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) airport there are ATMs before the immigration where you can withdraw cash.
  5. Your original ticket or e-ticket printout. Your return date must be within 15 days from the date of entry (visa on arrival allows you 15 days stay only). They might photocopy your ticket to keep a copy. To save time, you may want to carry a photocopy of the ticket with you. Note that it is only a single entry visa. If you go out Thailand and want to return, you will have to get a new Visa on Arrival.
  6. One recent passport size photograph.

The procedure

  1. Walk to the Visa on Arrival desk. Fill the Visa on Arrival Form
  2. Submit the Visa on Arrival Form and get your documents verified
  3. Wait for the visa stamping
  4. Collect your passport and walk to the immigration desks. Present your passport along with the arrival/departure card. Usually you will get the arrival/departure card in the flight.
  5. Finish immigration and collect your luggage from luggage belt.
Border Crossings
You can apply for a Visa on Arrival at some of the border crossings too. I would recommend taking a printout of Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website page on Visa on Arrival and carrying it with you just in case you have some difficulty in applying for the visa. The below information is from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs Website page on Visa on Arrival. Check the website for the latest info.
